Summary - Boosting Immunity during Lockdown

We had an information interaction with Mrs Subha Ramesh on how we can boost immunity during ongoing lockdown period and beyond. Most of the suggestions of Mrs Ramesh must be followed during normal course of life, not merely during lockdown

Here is an excerpt of what she spoke:

Food and lifestyle are primary way of boosting immunity. Food can be divided into food groups and the suggestions on intake from each group is as:

1. Cereals: Have cereals like Ragi, millets, corn, rice or wheat but void maida etc

2. Legumes/Pulses: That’s should be made part of lunch, Dinner and snacks

3. Mil Product: Avoid full cream, have skimmed milk. Have Paneer

4. Animal Product: Avoid red meat. Avoid deep fried or shallow fried.

5. Leafy vegetables: good source of minerals and fibres. Take according to your age

6. Fruits: All fruits are good to be had on daily basis. People with diseases like BP, Kidney disease, should have food as pr prescription

7. Dry fruits: In limited quantity. May avoid Cashew

8. Oil: 500 ml per person in a month is good. Ghe is good for people with ideal weight or growing children

Snacks shoud be full of home made healthy stuff rather than bread, biscuits etc

Ideal time for food:

Breakfast: By 8 AM

Lunch: 12:30 – 1 PM

Dinner: 7:30 Pm

Consume only 80% of your food intake quantity

Keep yourself hydrated. Have around 3 ltrs of water per day, preferably warm water

Start yor day with herbal concoction made of Jeera powder, Ginger, Ajwain, Tulasi, Lemon etc

Have 10-12 tulasi leaves per day. Have many tulasi plants in your house. 

Amla is a wonder fruit. 

Avoid Aerated water, Tetrapack juices, Ready to eat etc

Maintain Hygiene while preparing food and enjoy preparing feed.
